Mandalapatti - Feel like Heaven

As you know, Coorg is a favourite tourist destination for every Indian travellers. In Kodagu, Mandalpatti is a  must visit tourist place in Kodagu. And its a magical beauty and an absolutely scenic place in Coorg. Mandalpatti hills are located around 25 km from Madikeri town en route to Abbi falls. A right deviating road just 4 kms before Abbi Falls will lead to Mandalpatti. As bus facility is not available yet taking a cab or own vehicle is advised.
The road is good till the deviation. After that its a little bad in patches. But you will forget that when you see the beauty of the place. There is a forest office where you need to buy a ticket to go up till the view point.. The view is breathtaking from there...

Make sure to take water and food along as there are no shops around there. Once on the top of the hills the beauty of Mandalpatti is unwrapped. Far stretching green mountains and the cool breeze will definitely make one feel like heaven.

If you Planning for one day trip you cover lot of waterfalls also. See my earlier posts about beautiful, breathtaking water falls in Coorg.

Must visit Waterfalls and Tourist Spots in Kodagu (Coorg)

Kodagu (Coorg ) has lots of tourist places, tourist spots and water falls in its deep forest area. It is a best tourist place near Bangalore and known as 'Scotland of India'. It is a favorite travel destination for summer for its all time cool weather. Abbey falls in Madikeri, Mallalli falls in Somwarpet, Irpu falls in South Kodagu are the well known waterfalls and it has lots of beautiful water falls hidden in its deep forest areas, that which were unrecognized so far. We are here exploring some of that nature's beauty spots.
Abbey Falls
Most Popular Falls in Coorg. Near Madikeri. Originates from Kootuhole River.
Mallalli Abbi Falls
This falls is the highest water falls in Coorg District and 62 Km away from Madikeri. It is 20 km from Somwarpet towards Kundalli, Kumaralli. Click on the image for detailed trip experience.

Irpu Falls
50 Km from Madikeri – Near Nagarhole – Lakshmana Theertha River joining Cauvery River.
Hidden Water Falls in Coorg.....
Touristors are known about only the above shown falls in Kodagu. But more waterfalls are hidden in the deep forest of Kodagu. We are exploring some of the them here.

Kabbe Waterfalls
One of the villagers gave us the direction to the falls. To reach the  Balliyatra(Kabbe) falls, one has to trek for over an hour in slippery path. Since the trip was not meant for trek, people were not ready for it. There is place one could see the falls from a distance. We went to that point and enjoyed the beauty of the falls. The falls looked very similar to Bandaje Arbi falls.

Baganamane Waterfalls

Chelavara Waterfalls
Chelavara is known for its huge waterfall. It viewed from the road itself. There is also a way to get down and to the top of the falls. The water level of falls was quite high and we could not really get too close to the falls. My attempts to take a photo of falls in full view went in vain. One wrong step would end ones life. Certainly, there was no necessity to take that risk.

Devarakolli Waterfalls
Fifteen km from Madikeri on Madikeri – Mangalore road is Devarakolli falls. This falls is on the road side and can be found easily.

Garwale Waterfalls
Garwale is a Village about about 15 km from Madapur, and 35 km from Madikeri. You Can see a Very beautiful Waterfalls on the way of Garwale from Madapur.

Kalyala Waterfalls
'Kalyala Waterfalls' is located off the Madkeri - Mangalore Highway. It is visible from the highway and looks beautiful. Since the driving directions to the falls were known to us from our first visit, we quickly reached the last motorable stretch from where we had to trek down to view the falls. The drive itself is a mesmerizing one, with the greenery around and the narrow and curvy roads. It feels through the drive at every stretch, as though there's something more beautiful in store for us to see! It was a complete feast to our eyes.

Kuppehole Waterfalls
The Kuppehole Falls near Haleri, off the Madikeri-Sunticoppa-Kushalnagar road is in full flow. The roar of the water piercing the eerie silence of the surroundings is bewitching. Muddy water coming down in huge sheets along the woods is a great sight. It joins the Hattihole near Madapur, ultimately flowing into the Harangi resrvoir.

Karike – Treasure of Water Falls In raining season, about 25 water falls welcomes you near karike village near to Bhagamandala, which is Kodagu-Kerala border area. No residents are found nearby as this area is covered with thick forest. The different falls seems to compete in attracting the viewers.

The temple also has some interesting structural features in the form of Bali Peeda Mandapam and Mukha Mandapam. These are halls, decorated with beautiful sculptures of various Hindu deities. Extending from the eastern side into the sanctum sanctorum is a broad corridor which has 365 and one-quarter sculptured granite-stone pillars with beautiful carvings. There is a ground floor below under the main entrance in the eastern side, which is known as the nataka sala (literally means drama hall), where Kerala's classical art form - the Kathakali is performed during the annual ten-day festival at the temple, held during the Malayalam months of Meenam and Thulam.

It is a shaky experience.

Tourist will also find it entertaining to see the vineyards, orchards and other local businesses which are great to view by canal boat en route to the market.

Since Chiang Mai is located in the mountainous region, it is also a popular tourist place for mountain trekking. The small town of Pai is often visited by backpackers because of its less crowded and more “rustic” treks leading to the hill tribes.

Tourists will definitely enjoy the visit to the another tourist place San Kamphaeng Hot Spring located just 36 kilometers from the city of Chiang Mai. It is situated amid the natural surroundings of shady trees and fertile hills making it an ideal place for picnics and camping.
