Recently we have visited Srisailam (Shrishailam) the best divine place of Sri Mallikarjuna, one of the Jyotrilinga out of twelve Jyotirlingas The story behind Srisailam was Shiva and Parvati came down to Srisailam to annoy their son Subrahmanya, who lost a contest to his brother Ganesh and left the Kailash mountain disheartened. He aware of his parents following him so he flee from Srisailam and move ahead.
However, Shiva and Parvati
stayed at Srisailam with the names Mallika & Arjuna. So, the name of the temple is
well kwoned as to be Mallikarjuna. The garbhagriha has the Jyotirlinga where the devotees
perform their prayers and believe that they are the closest to the Lord at that
moment. This is must visit temple for Lod Shiva devotees.
